The Manning Valley has extensive areas of parks and reserves. Our aim is to make a difference to the community’s health, wellbeing and enjoyment by sustainably managing these areas. The following documents help us look after these areas.
Open Space Strategy
The Open Space Strategy provides the strategic direction and priorities for planning, allocation, design, development and management of open space in the Manning Valley.
Community Land Plan of Management
The Community Land Plan of Management (2011) provides a framework for the management and development of public open space owned by Council. We currently own and manage 353 hectares of public open space classified as ‘Community Land’. Maps are provided in Appendix A of the Plan that identifies all Community Land to which this Plan of Management applies.
In addition to this generic plan, site specific Plans of Management apply to two major sports fields:
- Wingham Sporting Complex Plan of Management (2011)
- Taree Regional Recreation Centre Plan of Management (2007)
Plans of Management - Crown Land Reserves
Harrington Beach and Manning Entrance State Parks Memorandum of Understanding
In partnership with Crown Lands, we manage Harrington Beach State Park and Manning Entrance State Park through joint membership of a Trust.
This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) sets out the Trust's agreement to a set of general principles, which define the roles of the parties and their commitments to the establishment and management of these two State Parks.
