Community statistics

Statistics are useful to look at how our population is changing over time. They are used to help plan new facilities and services and are useful to describe our community. Statistics are often used by community groups when applying for grants and by the business community when establishing or expanding their business.

Our statistics are provided by ID (Informed Decisions) who provide a similar service to many of our neighbouring councils. The packages of information available are:

  • Community Profile - provides census data from 1991 until the most recent census. This enables you to compare how the population has changed over time
  • Community Atlas - provides demographic characteristics for our population based on census data from 2001 up to the most recent census in a mapping format
  • Population Forecasts - forecasts our population size up to the year 2036 based on the projected population increase and the availability of land to be developed for housing.
  • Economic Profile - presents economic information that enables you to describe the area's role within the broader economy, explore options for economic development and promote the area's strengths.
